INTENT FOR COMPUTING AT WIMBLEDON CHASE

At Wimbledon Chase we prepare the children to be digitally literate and active participants in a digital world. We recognise that technology is always advancing so we seek to prepare the children for the future by:

  • Providing a relevant, challenging and enjoyable curriculum for all pupils that includes a range of multimedia and technology.
  • Encouraging the children to be creative, imaginative, use reasoning and investigative skills.
  • Helping children to appreciate the relevance of ICT in our society and how to use it as a tool to enhance learning, communication and research across all areas of the curriculum.
  • On-going Professional development for adults, so they can use, teach and learn the latest computer initiatives

We aim to ensure each child’s computing capability is developed to its fullest potential by ensuring they are taught basic computing operational skills, good etiquette when communicating with/through technology, awareness and understanding of the dangers that come with using technology online and offline, how to use a range of multimedia and apps and how to read and write primary code.

At Wimbledon Chase, we proud to state that we value  the importance that all children should have access to technology and, where possible, be exposed to the most up to date and relevant technology so we ensure good access by running a computer club for children at lunch times.  In addition to this, the Computing Lead runs a Coding club in the summer term where children keen to share their coding skills are encouraged to share these experiences to others. Additional accessories and devices are available to support learners that may need assisted access.
