Healthy School

INTENT FOR A HEALTHY SCHOOL AT WIMBLEDON CHASE

At Wimbledon Chase, we recognise the importance of the Healthy Schools initiative and our aim is to help children to grow healthily, safely and responsibly, thereby promoting long term, healthy lifestyles. Our Healthy Schools vision builds on the underlying principles of the English National Healthy School Programme, which is focussed on tackling the growing issue of poor nutrition and obesity amongst children. The outcome should enable children to make informed choices to improve their physical and emotional needs. Through our school provision, including that of the sports department, we want our pupils to appreciate the benefits of a healthy and physically active lifestyle and have access to a healthy school environment where they can learn and thrive.

Our mission is to offer:

  • Increased opportunities for children to be physically active both in and out of school
  • Engagement in fun and competitive activities to promote positive health choices
  • Increased school meal uptake including free school meals
  • Improve access to healthy packed lunches and snacks throughout the school day
  • An Internal and external environment that promotes healthy choices
  • Children to lead healthy, active lives both physically and mentally.
