Religious Education

We aim to develop positive attitudes towards other people, respecting their right to hold different beliefs to their own, and towards living in a religiously diverse and inclusive society.

At Wimbledon Chase, religious education does not seek to urge religious beliefs on children or to compromise the integrity of their own beliefs by promoting one religion over another.

Our intent is that the children develop their understanding of the world, culturally, emotionally and intellectually. We strive to build empathetic and reciprocal relationships within the local and wider community, through organising visits to places of worship, providing interesting and stimulating resources to accompany each lesson and inviting expert speakers into school. We welcome parents to share their experiences of faith with the children.

We are proud to say that Religious Education at Wimbledon Chase provides exciting opportunities that enable children to think critically, discover new information and make connections which build on their prior learning. The children are confident, independent and reflective communicators whose skills, knowledge and understanding are embedded in the long term memory.

At Wimbledon Chase, RE forms the basis of the whole school ethos of care, respect, knowledge and valuing of others and is therefore vital for good spiritual, moral and social development.
