The ‘Friends’ is the school’s parent teacher association (“PTA”). It is a charity whose primary remit is to raise funds to go back into the school to enhance the education and social wellbeing of the children.
The PTA has been going over 17 years and in just the last 3 years we have raised over £85,000 with money put towards new equipment, sports facilities, contributions towards trips and for special visitors (e.g. authors) – all working towards enhancing your child’s educational experience.
But we aren’t just about fundraising. We also bring parents and staff together and encourage links with the local community.

OUR PAST EVENTS
Family Day – this annual summer fair is our biggest event with stalls selling a variety of wares, children’s inflatables and rides, lots of great food including a BBQ, tombolas, raffles and much, much more.
Christmas Fair – a festive extravaganza of gifts, seasonal food, music and Santa’s Grotto. The event held for Christmas 2017 raised £9,500.
Quiz Night – at least one quizzical contest happens each year. Get a team together and have loads of fun flexing your mental muscles over food and wine.
Easter Egg Hunt – younger pupils scour the school grounds to win eggs and meet the Easter Bunny. Another fun day which raised £1,000 in 2017.
Riverford Scheme – we have an agreement with Riverford to help to raise funds for our school. Riverford sells excellent quality organic fruit, veg, dairy and meat and delivers to your door. If you sign up to the scheme then it raises money for the Friends and you save money too. So far we have 18 families on the Scheme and have raised £230. Follow the link www.riverford.co.uk/shop
Our committee is made up of parents and staff including The head teacher, Mrs Dotchin and Mrs Baines. We have a chair, vice chair, treasurer and secretary plus additional committee members.
We meet each term, with smaller working groups and meetings to plan events, approve expenditure and foster positive relations between the school, the parents and other key stakeholders, including the wider community.
Our AGM takes place in October. Come along and find out more about our work over the past year, the money we’ve raised, how it’s been spent and what you could do to help.
We’re always looking for new committee members and volunteers. If you’re interested contact us or come along to the AGM on 15 October 2018 – information will be sent out ahead of the meeting.
